The Coupes have filed a notice on Friday (here, and here) that they intend to appeal Judge Ibarra’s supplemental ruling pertaining to the pretext issue to the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals (#3CC051015K).This is a very disappointing decision on the part of the Coupes. It would’ve been nice if they allowed Judge Ibarra’s ruling stand However I believe attorneys Robert Thomas & Kenneth Kupchak’s political agenda to reduce government’s use of eminent domain took precedence here.

Mahalo to Andrew Cooper for including this blog in his top Big Island blogs list.

Lastly, I was reading the reader comments to this latest blog entry on Big Island Chronicle. As far as I can decipher, council chair J Yoshimoto went up to Waimea to confer with current vice chair Pete Hoffmann about unseating Brenda Ford and Dominic Yagong from their chairs and reorganizing the council committees. However Mr. Hoffmann thankfully refused to be a part of this proposed coup even though it may potentially cost him his vice chairmanship of the council.
I unfortunately will be at work tomorrow when these decisions will be made. Nonetheless, I hope there is a large turnout of people opposed to these damaging changes to the council.
