Sherry Bracken let me know about her interview with Mayor Kenoi which is posted here.I had a chance to listen to the entire interview. It seems Mayor Kenoi has a good grasp of the issues facing this island. On top of that,he is bringing a lot of good people like Hunter Bishop,Kevin Dayton, and Bobby Command into his administration. However hopefully Mayor Kenoi will be able to back up his words with real action and continue to keep the county’s ship on a even keel.
Outgoing Mayor Harry Kim reminisced about the last 8 years of his administration. I am very happy to see him go.Especially since has left Hawaii County worse off than before he came into office. You can see many examples of it by looking how bloated Hawaii County’s government has gotten on the sidebar statistics. On top of that, a number projects like the Hokulia bypass, Alii Parkway, etc have been in a perpetual stall under his watch. Hopefully Mayor Kenoi will do a better job in getting these projects done.
Hat tip to Damon Tucker for posted this interesting video done by Senator J. Kalani English about geothermal development here in Hawaii.
Lastly, Mel from Mel’s Internet Universe left this comment in regards to my thoughts about Go morphing into Aloha Airlines.
“What’s the big deal? Yuicapa has to recoup as much investment money as they lost on Aloha Airlines and selling / licensing off the name is a good move for them… and also Mesa. To the victors of the air fare war go the spoils. Such is life. Not a big deal.”
My response is below :
If Mesa didn’t deliberately drive Aloha Airlines out of business there would not be an issue.Mesa illegally undercut both Aloha and Hawaiian by offering airfares that no one could make money on.Let the record show that Mesa had to pay Hawaiian Airlines 52.5 million for illegally using Hawaiian’s proprietary financial information to benefit Go.
