I am utterly shocked to find out that Hunter Bishop be joining Mayor Billy Kenoi’s administration. Thus he will cease blogging due to the latter.I guess I’m feeling this way because my blog and his blog have been joined at the hip for awhile. On top of that, his blog has provided a very valuable community resource and commentary.
Overall its like I’ve been punched in the stomach twice. First, it was longtime WHT reporter Bobby Command’s departure from WHT to join Mayor Billy Kenoi’s administration. Now Hunter Bishop and the Honolulu Advetiser’s Big Island chief reporter,Kevin Dayton, have also decided to join Mayor Billy Kenoi’s administration.
These losses are going to be hard to recover. But on the upside it has increased my resolve to make my blog better. Our island needs alternative voices to report the news other than the Stephens Media cabal of newspapers.
The clock is ticking on both Hawaiian Telcom and General Growth Properties . In the case of the latter, GGP still hasn’t made any announcement on being able to restructure their debt obligations. It wouldn’t surprise me that both of these companies may have to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as soon as early December 2008.
Lastly, Ryan Ozawa wrote up an excellent blog entry about Mesa Airlines using Aloha Airline’s intellectual property.I share Ryan’s outrage about this turn of events. This is utter blasphemy towards the legacy of the real Aloha Airlines if Mesa renames Go Aloha.

I wasn’t as shocked as you are with Hunters departure for better things.
I still think he could maintain a personal blog.
I wish him the best and think that his departure from the blogging world is a loss.
I only recently started blogging, so I too feel more compelled to work on my blog a bit more to make it even as close as compelling to read as Hunters blog was.
What’s the big deal? Yuicapa has to recoup as much investment money as they lost on Aloha Airlines and selling / licensing off the name is a good move for them… and also Mesa. To the victors of the air fare war go the spoils. Such is life. Not a big deal.
Aaron- If Mesa didn’t deliberately drive Aloha Airlines out of business there would not be an issue.Mesa illegally undercut both Aloha and Hawaiian by offering airfares that no one could make money on.Let the record show that Mesa had to pay Hawaiian Airlines 52.5 million for illegally using Hawaiian’s proprietary financial information to benefit Go.
