It looks like Stephens Media layoffs are starting here in Hawaii.First WHT laid off their staff photographer,Baron Sekiya.Now I see that Stephens Media has eliminated their capital bureau office in Honolulu.I’m very disappointed that Stephens won’t have a presence at the state capital anymore. Now I’ll be stuck reading generic articles compiled by Honolulu Advertiser, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and the Associated Press.Which means that once again issues pertaining to Hawaii County will be overlooked by the media.
UHERO is now predicting a “deep and drawn-out” recession lasting through 2009.It seems everyday there is news reports and statistics that corroborate this prediction.That being said, I think the best course of action for the next few years is batten down the hatches and try to hang on your job.I have a very bad feeling that the economy will get much worse before things get better.
