The Hawaii Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments for Charles & Joan Coupe’s appeal of Judge Ibarra’s September 25, 2007 decision. Which paved the way for Hawaii County to gain possession (pending appeal) of 1,500 feet of Charles & Joan Coupe’s land to complete the Hokulia bypass.
This is certainly very good news that oral arguments have been scheduled for this appeal. Hopefully the Hawaii Supreme Court will rule in favor of Hawaii County and Oceanside 1250. Which will allow this much needed roadway to be completed.
On a related note, interestingly this was not official oral arguments schedule. I stumbled upon it today when I was reading Charles & Joan Coupe’s attorney’s blog.
I bet the Hawaii Superferry opponents didn’t see this one coming. The HSF has carried over 125,000 passengers with no major issues. I certainly can’t wait until they start service to Kawaihae next year.
The Ruley era at Hawaiian Telcom was a utter disaster. He won’t be missed by current and former HawTel employees.
Below is the latest update in regards to the Queeen Kaahumanu Highway Phase I widening project:
“Hi Aaron,
Contractor opened Makala makai direction as of 10:30am yesterday to move traffic over to do roadway excavation on Makala makai (south side).
Makala intersection paving work, from new mauka edge towards makai direction, will be done during the night sometime next week. The date/time for night work not set. This work will allow for only one lane, Makala mauka-makai direction, during the night hours.
Temporary striping to increase length right-turn lane (from airport to Makala) will be completed either today or Friday. This will unload right turn vehicles from the Kailua bound lane and lessen the line of vehicles.
Palani intersection work continues with lanes changes and a lot of equipment working, which some drivers watch and not where they are going. Please inform drivers to slow down and watch for workers and pedestrians crossing in this area.
Thanks,
Bobby”
