It seems the White House has rejected a U.S Customs and Border Protection proposal. Which would’ve attempted to protect U.S flagged cruise ships from foreign competition. This proposal would’ve had a detrimental effect on Hawaii’s tourism industry. Especially since NCL has significantly reduced its cruise ship presence in Hawaii.Hat tip to Damon Tucker for blogging about this.
Hawaii’s health care system is broken. As I’ve said before, radical changes need to be done to avert a overall collapse. The latter process starts with the upcoming elections. We need to elect Rep. Josh Green to fill outgoing Sen. Whalen’s District 3 seat. Electing his challenger, former State Representative/Hawaii County Councilwoman Virginia Isbell, would represent a huge step backwards in stabilizing Hawaii’s health care system.
On that note, Mrs. Isbell still has not filed the required campaign spending reports.
Lastly, Howard Dicus wrote up a enlightening and funny commentary on the state of Hawaii’s tourism industry.
“The wrap-up report on June tourism shows that Mister Slump has fully arrived, wearing Bermuda shorts and Ray-Bans.”
