Letters like these which preach fear mongering about the Hawaii Superferry frustrate me. Especially this aspect of the letter.

“It was foolish to let the Superferry launch without taking some serious measures to keep this mite from hitching a ride to Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island. Superferry’s screeners that spot check cars and trucks cannot save us.”

What serious measures ? I really can’t think of any preventive measures that would 100% block the importation of this pest-except one. Which would force HSF to stop service between the islands. I’m sure all the environmentalists would jump for joy if that ever happened. But the overall population would lose another option to travel inter island. Which in my view is not fair.

I find it perplexing that the public school teachers are trying to block the state from doing random drug testing even though they agreed to implement RDT in their last collective bargaining agreement. This action by the public school teachers sets a bad example for their students and makes a mockery of the collective bargaining process.

As for the HSTA’s argument that RDT violates the teachers constitutional rights, it doesn’t hold water. Other occupations like fireman, and police officers have go through RDT.I’ve never heard the people in those occupations complain about their constitutional rights being violated.

Lastly, I’m willing bet that someone will file a complaint that this unscheduled meeting about Kilauea’s vog impact violated the sunshine law. When will the government learn to not do these stunts ? In my view these illegal meetings won’t stop until someone is held accountable and sent to jail or fined.

By the time the Feds get here… the VOG levels might be down again.

“Kilauea summit is deflating….”

It is not fear-mongering to be concerned about valid intrusions of invasive species that could cause lasting damage to the islands even if some do not get facts straight or say it in a way that is acceptable to such scrutiny. It is of great concern that you focus on that and choose to make a personal attack without much else substance. It completely shows where your heart is. Kind of dark in there isn’t it?

Aaron-I was pointing out the fact that there is no guaranteed preventative that will eliminate the threat of these invasive species from being spread via the HSF. The only way I can see that the threat would be eliminated is stopping the HSF from operating in this state. Which in my opinion is not fair to the entire population living here.

Aaron, according to this update:
Candidate Report

Virginia Isbell, the hideous incompetent responsible for the never-finished canoe pavilion at Old Airport Park, has indeed filed to run against Josh Green.

Aaron-Thanks for the scoop, it is much appreciated.
