Hawaii County Council Approves Bond Float, Palani Road Frustration

3 07 2008

Its good to see that the Hawaii County Council approved the 114 million bond float. Now projects like the West Hawaii Civic Center,Makalei Fire Station,a new Hilo Central Fire Station/administrative complex can move forward.

I sent this e-mail to Bruce McClure and Councilman Angel Pilago’s office expressing my frustration about two segments of Palani Road that are in desperate need of resurfacing.

Dear Mr. McClure,

It is my understanding that there may be up to a two year delay in starting the Kamaka’eha Ave/Palani Road turn pocket construction. Apparently it will take that long to move HELCO’s utility poles in this project area.

Since this the case, I hope that DPW can resurface the Henry Street to Queen Kaahumanu Highway segment of Palani Road. This section, along with the Grace Church section need to be resurfaced badly. I use Palani Road on a daily basis. I’m getting very tired of driving over all these potholes on this road.

If you want to discuss this further, my phone number is xxx-xxxx.

Best Regards,
Aaron Stene
