Below is more rebuttal comments made in response to Hunter Bishop’s blog posting about WHT’s civil disobedience poll.

“Kevin I look at it this way, if Hawaii County didn’t give the sweetheart deal to Oceanside to build the road it is very likely that the Coupe’s would’ve not fought the condemnation of their land by Hawaii County. The main beef by the Coupe’s was the fair share tax unilaterally imposed on all the landowners who up up zone their land. Which would be used to compensate Oceanside for building the road. To me, Hawaii County screwed up bigtime.

As for Alii Parkway, if the Kim Administration showed ANY backbone, we wouldn’t be in this mess with Alii Parkway. “ Even though half my life living here I was under the age of 18, it doesn’t mean I didn’t visually see Hilo screwing Kona.I don’t need R.F to tell me that. I can see it with my own eyes.”

I also made this rebuttal comment also:

“Firstly I’ve NEVER seen traffic jams between Prince Kuhio Plaza and Keaau on Highway 11.Although, I am aware there serious traffic problems between Keaau and Pahoa. Last I checked THAT ISN’T HILO City.Secondly the traffic issues are NOT GOING TO IMPROVE until there is more afforable housing closer to job centers.

My brother just bought a new house down in HOVE for 225,000. A similar home in Kona would easily run 500,000-600,000.Which my brother could not afford. Along with the fact that my parents are moving to Ka’u in the near future, that is why I’ve been fighting extremely hard to get the Hokulia bypass road completed.I know roads are just a band-aid solution. But I don’t see government working on the underlying problems fast enough.”

I received this e-mail today in regards to a new proposal to revitalize the rundown Discovery Harbour Golf Course.

“Hello out there I will make a presentation on Sat. Feb. 2nd., after the DH Board Meeting. Spread the word…The latest on the subject is that I have been corresponding with Larry Dolan of Club Invest , the folks that presented their package to our group a few months ago. I just received their Membership Packages data that they use. Larry indicated that we will need to sell approximately 350 memberships which would be needed to support the program.

We will have to go outside of Discovery Harbour to sell that number. We can draw from South Kona to Volcano & beyond for a nice project like Larry has proposed. We need all the support that we can get – spread the word…They are prepared to spend $2 mil on the golf course plus $1 mil on the clubhouse, in addition to what they have to pay for the property. We have scheduled a Town Hall meeting for Thurs.,

Feb. 21 at 6:00 P. M. at the Discovery Harbour

Community Association.Their Membership data is attached.Should any of you or your contacts have questions, e-mail or call me at 808 929 8317..

Wish us LUCK…

Thanks for your time,

Floyd Smithson, Acting Chairman

I think Hawaii County will be divided into two or more counties. The island has six traditional districts, as the anonymous comment on HunterBishop.com points out.
